The Impact:
College Forward – $13,000 Invested to consult with a local branding and design firm to produce high quality student and partner recruitment materials for the Success Partnerships program. This fundingalso covered nearly all of out-of-pocket costs associated with rolling out student programming on our two partner organizations’ campuses. This translates into helping 308 qualified students succeed in college.
Little Helping Hands – $3,000 Invested to expand their program offering an average of 54 activities per month-36% more volunteer activities organized as compared to 2012. Additionally, the number of children out volunteering in 2013 grew by approx. 20% over 2012.
Mobile Loaves and Fishes - $17,000 Invested to expand their Street Treats vending program by purchasing 3 new custom carts to empower our homeless friends to sell pre-packaged food and drinks throughout the city. We were also able to purchase 50 new and updated uniforms and do a redesign on our logos and branding for Street Treats. All of this has allowed us to meet and release dignified income opportunitiesto over 30 new vendors. These vendors have averaged over $27 an hour in sales and tips on the new bikes.
Seedling Foundation - $6,000 Invested to match an additional nine children with mentors. What impact does this have? “However, the impact was larger than that implies. More people commented that they’d heard of us. We made some connections with folks who later invited us to come and talk to their employees or their places of business for mentor recruitment for this school year. The exposure and branding were benefits that do not link so clearly back to the $6,000 but are very valuable to us.”
Sustainable Food Center - $4,500 Invested to offer a 3-day program replication training for over 30 participants representing 15 communities/nonprofits from across 4 states. These 15 communities groups have now been trained to begin programs like Grow Local, Farm Direct and The Happy Kitchen in their own cities, and SFC will provide up to a year of technical assistance as they get their programs off the ground.
