Third Annual Philanthropitch Columbus Donates Over $100,000
Philanthropitch Columbus, presented by American Electric Power Foundation, went virtual for 2021! We are pleased to announce that a total of $100,061.15 was donated thanks to our generous judges, funders, and YOU!
In a week-long virtual voting period with over 170 votes, we saw 1,663 people visit our virtual stage from not only Ohio but states as far away as California and Virginia. Extending the reach of this event during our pivot to virtual has been a highlight of this year’s event.
This year’s finalists work to impact the community in innovative ways, from urban farming to addressing addiction through harm reduction. The 2021 Philanthropitch Columbus finalists were: Franklinton Farms, Maroon Arts Group, Adaptive Sports Connection, Franklinton Cycle Works, The Soar Initiative, and We Amplify Voices.
Leading up to the event our Judges and Sponsors provided resources and feedback to help the finalists hone their pitches. There is a reason we call Philanthropitch a journey - although it’s fun, a lot of hard work goes into these events and we are grateful to everyone for helping make this year the best yet.
Going virtual didn’t slow us down! Despite not being in-person, finalists, sponsors and judges we were able to connect for a virtual ice cream social during the voting period to learn more about each other and form lasting connections.
Thank you to everyone who voted, donated, and viewed the awards ceremony. We are grateful for your support of social innovation in the Columbus community!
