Announcing the Philanthropitch Columbus 2019 Finalists
Philanthropitch is pleased to announce the 6 of the 7 Finalist organization who will take the stage on March 4, 2019, at the Jo Ann Davidson Theatre. Presented by Kiwanis Club of Columbus and co-hosted by SocialVentures, the inaugural Philanthropitch Columbus event has been our most competitive application process to date. Our team received over 50 applications and narrowed it down to 6 very impressive organizations.
In the coming weeks, we look forward to welcoming our 7th presenter being decided by our partners at SocialVentures.
The mission of ROX is to equip girls with the knowledge and skills necessary to live healthy, independent, productive, and violence-free lives. ROX exists to create generations of confident girls who can control their own relationships, experiences and decisions. ROX is committed to providing innovative, relevant and evidence-based programming that contributes to a safer, accessible and equitable world for girls.
Furniture Bank of Central Ohio provides furniture to individuals and families in need due to poverty or other severe life challenges. Their goal is for all central Ohio families to live in furnished homes strengthening family units, improving quality of life, and building a better community. As a member of the Furniture Bank Association of North America, Furniture Bank of Central Ohio are one of the largest furniture banks in the country, and have earned numerous awards for our program, including the Columbus Foundation Award in 2013. In our 20 years of operation, we have served more than 60,000 families – totaling more than 184,000 individuals – right here in Central Ohio.
Since 2004, ECDI has assisted Ohio’s entrepreneurs through their one-stop-shop business services model, suited to meet the needs of all entrepreneurs, regardless of what business stage they’re in. From providing capital to entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses, to providing focused, business-specific educational opportunities to enhance entrepreneurial skill sets, ECDI works with their clients to meet their specific needs. Whether you merely have a business idea or are opening up your fifth location, ECDI’s “never say no” approach has allowed over ten thousand entrepreneurs to take advantage of the services they provide.
Equitas Health (formerly AIDS Resource Center Ohio), is a regional not-for-profit community-based healthcare system and federally qualified community health center look-alike. Its expanded mission has made it one of the nation’s largest HIV/AIDS, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) healthcare organizations. With 17 offices in 11 cities, it serves more than 67,000 individuals in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia each year through its diverse healthcare and social service delivery system focused around: primary and specialized medical care, retail pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, HIV/STI prevention, advocacy, and community health initiatives.
RTCO is an affiliate for the leading national non-profit working to preserve affordable homeownership by bringing volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of our neighbors and restoring communities. Established in 1991 and located in Columbus, Ohio, Rebuilding Together Central Ohio (RTCO) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to improving homes and neighborhoods by preserving and revitalizing homes through specialized programs and services. Safe at Home provides grants for quality, emergency repairs and home modifications to help qualified low-income seniors and disabled homeowners age in place. Mod Squad is a social enterprise serving as Central Ohio’s one-stop shop for handyman services. Founded in 1976, the Tool Library provides access to the tools needed for simple, cost-effective DIY home maintenance projects. The organization also hosts an annual one-day neighborhood revitalization project called Rebuilding Healthy Neighborhoods with support from hundreds of volunteers, as well as area sponsors and donor partners.
YMCA of Central Ohio is an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
